In 1607, the first group of travelers arrived on these shores. They stayed a few days, enamored by the beautiful situation of the high bluffs looking over the river. They carried out some very important meetings with the local native populous, enjoyed their local fare and scouted out the area’s handsome natural attractions. It wasn’t long before the word got out and interest in this land just beyond the James River fall line was looked upon with great enthusiasm by Captain John Smith and the Virginia Company. Richmond is still looked upon with excitement when it comes to group meetings!
